Specific Prayer Requests

We just met with one of the NICU doctors. Gaines weighs 3 lbs 2 oz which is awesome. It is still very early and we don't know much. The NICU team is currently running several tests. We'll know more from those later.

At this time, we do know that he is on a ventilator because his lungs are still immature...even a little immature for a 29 weeker. We were told this is probably due to the lack of fluid for him to "practice" with. They are giving him surfactant which is something term babies already make. This will help to keep his lungs open. Please specifically pray for Gaines lungs to develop and for other tests to come back normal.

I so much want a healthy baby. We should be able to see him in about 30 minutes.

Praying for your family and for Gaines' lungs to improve. My sister delivered my nephew at 29 weeks under very similar circumstances. He is 19 months old now and thriving!

Beau we went to highschool together. I am Laura Goldman Mielke. I graduated with E. Crum. Been following your story through Footprints. Last May I delivered 27 week twin girls, Harper 1.12 ounds and Lily 2.5, spent two months in nicu. Today they are almost one year, 16 pounds and thriving well. Have patience and keep the faith. This experience will change your faith and outlook on life tremendously as i am sure it already has. Just know I am praying and i cannot wait to see your new baby boy. çongrats and rejoice!

Praise God that he was crying when he came out! God will take care of him and develop those little lungs. My preemie was on a vent for a few days and also had several doses of surfactant. He's a healthy 1-year-old now. Gaines will do GREAT!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Congratulations on your new baby boy! As the mom of a preemie (born after a antepartum stay too!), I know how difficult this journey is. Stay strong--the NICU is a place of miracles. Praying for your family and Gaines!

Congratulations to the new addition to your family. Said a prayer for you and also called my church family for them to pray for you today. Gaines just doesn't know yet how special he has become to everyone, but you will be able to share these stories with him when he is old enough to understand. God just bless you and we wait for the good news that you will have for us.

Aunt Sherry called me first thing this morning to see if I had read your blog. I was just getting to work and had not. Miss Wilma called Aunt Sherry while she was taking to me to tell her Gaines was here. How awesome that he weighs so much! I am praying so hard for his lungs to develope quickly and for him to gain weight. And for his precious family...
