At 9:35 AM Eastern, Gaines will be one week old. I believe this has been the longest week of our lives. There have been emotional lows and highs, reasons to celebrate and reasons to cry. We have cried because our hearts ached and we have cried because of joy. We wouldn't trade this past week for anything in the world.
We have seen Gaines enter the world, worry the doctors to the point of doubt and then shock them with his strength. This morning, Gaines is still on the cpap and his oxygen has been weaned to 38-40%. His blood gases continue to measure "ok". The doctors still don't seem pleased with his blood gas measuring, but they are good enough.
Gaines should have his second heart echo today. Please pray that this comes back normal. Hopefully we will have some new pictures of Gaines to share this afternoon.
