Just a quick update. We just got home from visiting Gaines. Everything is pretty much still the same but his blood gases look better. His CO2 came down to 62. Still not the 45 we want but SO much better than the 90s of yesterday. Please continue to keep him in your prayers. Pray for healthy lungs and a healthy heart. Pray that his PDA closes with the medication and the VSDs do not become a problem.
I cannot tell you how sweet this baby is. He is so precious to us and while we know it won't be tomorrow, we cannot wait to get this child home and be a family again.
I don't think I mentioned this yesterday but I thought it was kind of funny. I was kidding around and asked Gaines' doctor when we could take him home. He thought for a minute and said...Not tonight. At least he was honest.
Love to all,
Brittany

Yippee for a lower CO2!!! Praise God. I'll be praying that it keeps coming down and for all of the other requests you've mentioned on Gaines' behalf. I'll be praying that you and Beau get good, peaceful rest tonight. Reed will be joining you in a few days, right? I'm praying that when he comes it'll really brighten you both up!!!

I am keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prays
Praying ND
I didn't leave a comment of Mckmamas blog, but if I had, your family is the one I'm supposed to pray for!
I'm sure God gave me you to pray for because I'm mom to a 27 weeker. He was 1 lb 15 oz, and went through many of the things Gaines is dealing with. My son is 6 now, and fine in every way. God is good!
I'll be praying for all of you
I have been reading your blog for a while now. I think of you often and pray for Gaines through the day. I was in the hospital on bed rest for only 3 weeks before my
2nd son was born. You have been such a trooper! 3 weeks was rough enough! Being away from your first baby is so difficult also. I ache for you.
PRAYING for your family and of course GAINES!!
Brittany Beau and Gaine's, we are always praying for you guys!
Love ya'll!
Lol, love the doctor's comment. I don't think they know how much we hang on their words! When my son was about 3 weeks old, we asked the doctor if our son was doing as well as to be expected, and he waited a few seconds and then said "No." My heart dropped and I almost broke down... Until he added... "He is doing remarkably well." :) Oh, how a few words can change your whole day!
Continuing to pray for you guys! BTW- we did not have VSDs, but we have ASDs which are similar. His are still open but it's okay. They're not worried about closing them now because they're not a huge deal... So even if they stick around, the VSDs may not necessarily have to be fixed until Gaines is older, and they may close on their own over time.
I know I'm always leaving comments about our son, but I just want you guys to know that even though you're constantly hearing worst case scenarios, these babies don't listen to what the doctors say. They do their own things! I wish we had had someone there with us in the beginning stages to tell us that NICU "normal" isn't anything you can be prepared for... That there might come a point in time that you will turn to a nurse and say, "Oh, he's fine. He's not THAT blue." In a month you'll look back at these first few weeks and will hardly believe everythiing you've been through, and what different people you, including Gaines, are!
At any rate, we'll keep on praying in TN!
Praying for that precious little heart and the parents who love that little heart so much!
Praise the Lord for his CO2 levels dropping! We're Praying!
"I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray" Psalm 17:6
Decreasing CO2 levels is a great accomplishment! Hang on to the tiny milestones and they will carry you through to each big jump! Gaines is making such wonderful progress. We love you!
Not Tonight, but ONE DAY SOON!
God Bless!
