We're Home

The UAB Critical Care Transfer Team arrived at GWUH at 2:30 AM this morning to pick up Gaines and me. We left GWUH in an ambulance around 3:00 AM. The ambulance took us to Baltimore where we boarded a jet bound for home. The jet took off around 3:30 and we landed in Montgomery at 4:45 AM Central.

Gaines did excellent during the transfer. He was able to transfer on nasal canula (5 liters at 35% oxygen). The Transfer Team decided nasal canula was best because their CPAP seemed to irritate him. He is now safely in the NICU in Montgomery. Oh yeah, we also had to change Montgomery NICU's. Apparently, Baptist South was too full so he was transferred to the Baptist East NICU.

Below are a few pictures of the transfer. We will update more later. We are exhausted. Thank you all for your prayers.
Beau

I'm so excited to finally meet you and the family - and, Brittany, if it's any consolation, Baptist East is close to Beau's office! I am frequently amazed at the things He can do.... though I shouldn't be.

I was told years ago that God answers every prayer IMMEDIATELY.... with one of three answers: "yes", "no", or "wait".... apparently, He said "wait" for a while, then "yes"... and when He says "yes" - it happens QUICKLY!

yay!!! So happy to see the updates this morning! God is SO good!!! Welcome home! :)

ps- i'm praying you won't let the change in hospitals disappoint/frustrate or discourage. I know the idea of it being right across the street was such a comforting one, but God is good and he is not surprised by this change. I believe He knew that would be where Gaines would end up before he got to go home home. He's got you all in his hands!! Continue to each day, rest in that!

So glad all went smooth. Now your finally all in your hometown and that's a relief, you have family and friends that will support you and can comfort you much better in person. But don't forget your prayer warriors (us).

Very glad your family has made it home. I've been watching and reading for the past several months at your journey.

May God continue to improve Gaines and heal him so that he may make it out of the hospital.

I've been following your blog since you were admitted to the hospital in March! I think I've checked everyday to see how your little family is doing. I'm so happy to hear that you have all made it home, and hopefully, Gaines will join you all not only in your home state, but also in your actual home!! I continue to think about you and pray daily,
