Probably the biggest news in the last couple of days is Gaines' weight. The doctors are wanting him to gain about 1 ounce per day. He was weighed today for the first time in 5 days and guess what...he gained 5 ounces. Exactly what the doctors want him to gain. Oh by the way, you might want to sit down for this one. Our little 3 pounder is now 11 pounds 1 ounce. The only other change this past week has been medication. Gaines is continuing to spit up 3 to 4 times per day. He has been on Zantac but today he was switched to Nexium. Please pray that Nexium will be his "miracle drug" and will help with his spitting up.
On Friday of this week Gaines gets his first synagis shot. This is a shot he will get once per month during the winter to help prevent RSV. Thank goodness for insurance...the shot is ridiculously expensive. Oh yeah, I wanted to mention one funny thing that happened. Our Wachovia debit card was red flagged by the Wachovia Fraud Department because we have spent so much money at CVS in the past two weeks. We thought it was funny...sort of.
Please pray that Gaines continues to get better. Below are a few new pictures of our boys.

What great weight gain!!! Your boys are so adorable. Will pray about the spitting up tonight. Praying the new drug will do the trick!

Oh my! He looks like such a big boy now. =)
Oh I just love the pictures. It's so nice to see your family home and not dealing with the hospitals/work/family/church...madness anymore.
I rejoiced the day we came home.
Very cute pictures. You can actually see how nice and chubby little Gaines is getting.
I love the tendergrips!! Gaines is just adorable. Did you get the package?
Hey guys! Congratulations on the PERFECT weight gain! That's wonderful news! I wanted to throw something out there during your last post about Gaines' spitting up but was afraid it would come across like I know more than you and your doctors do...please don't take this this way. My baby boy was a BAD spitter upper and, we were on Zantac and Nexium as well. However, we switched to Nutramigen formula and it helped. Now, was my son in even a close situation to what sweet Gaines has fought through, NO, I KNOW that. I also know that NICU babies are often on a "special" high-caloric formula so this may not work anyway. Please know that I have been following you guys (although I'm not sure I'm actually "following" your blog now that I think about it) from the very beginning and this is coming from NOTHING but a place of love and admiration! Just thought I'd throw it out there just in case! With all the love and prayers in the world!!

Loves the ones of Reed holding Gaines.
And I was thinking the other day about the whole going by the middle name thing. It really is a great way to screen my calls. IF somebody calls and asks to talk to Frances I know they don't know/want me and say she's not here!
Reid looks like he is loving being a big brother! Thank goodness for that shot...what a lifesaver that will be this winter!
Yeah to Gaines weight gain!! That is awesome news. Tell him that I said keep up the good work. Love the pictures, both Reed and Gaines are cutie pies.
Love the pics! Both boys look so big!
And yes, Beau, that is pretty funny that you guys were suspected of using your card fraudulently! You should start one of those "you know you're a parent of a preemie when..." lists. :)
If you have the time to reach out to a Christian family who is experiencing the same medical condition as Brittany, it would be wonderful. I'm sure they could use encouragement from someone who has recently been on the same path. Lee Cordon is 24 1/2 weeks with her water broken, and she has been admitted to Baylor Medical Center. They have a 2 year old also. The doctors don't see any fluid right now, and they are trying to keep Lee from infection/delivery as long as possible. Her blog is www.musingsonhope.blogspot.com. She is 28 years old.
